Truck on a stick

At the beginning of this year, I made the promise to myself that once a month I will go out and do photography for Me. The fuel my mind and spirit on why I choose to make this practice for myself and share with others on what it takes to do wet plate collodion. For February, I did my first solo road trip to AZ and explore small parts of route 66. On those first few days I really sat with how long of a road this took for me to get to this point of being independent. While I couldn't help but feel a pang of sorrow for the time it took to reach this milestone, I also felt an overwhelming sense of joy and pride in my accomplishment. As someone navigating life with autism and chronic illness, I'm often confronted with the need to prioritize my energy, even within the realm of photography. What I was able to do out on the road was these 4 5x7 tintypes of “Truck on a Stick”. Each of them are differently done in tones and how they were processed. Personaly, my favorite one is of the two ravens sitting together. These plates are looking for a new home, please DM me if interested.

This is for my fellow disabled artists out there that have to take different ways or need a little help to get to where you want to go. This is your sign to go out and do what you want to do! I want to thank my friend Cameron for getting me outside and for taking this photo of me while we explored the desert.
